Privacy policy

Glucoscope has no account system and no ads. Your readings, logbook and chats stay on your iPhone unless you choose to send them somewhere, and the developer never receives them.

What stays on your device

Glucose readings, logbook entries (insulin, food, ketones, notes and alerts), settings and saved chats with Gluco are stored in a single file on your iPhone, shared with Glucoscope's widgets, Apple Watch app and notification extension. LibreLinkUp and LibreView sign-in details are kept in the iOS keychain.

What leaves your device, and only if you use it

  • iCloud sync (Pro, off by default) copies your history and settings to your own iCloud account.
  • Apple Health, if you allow it, receives the glucose, insulin, carb and finger-stick values you choose to save, and Glucoscope reads glucose that other apps save there.
  • LibreLinkUp and LibreView: your sign-in is sent only to Abbott's LibreView servers, to fetch your readings and logbook.
  • Meal Scan and Chat with Gluco send the photo or message to Apple's Private Cloud Compute, which Apple states cannot store or read it, or handle it on the iPhone. The Smart Summary sends at most 12 recent readings, with no name or account.

Services Glucoscope uses

  • RevenueCat handles subscriptions and purchases. It receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase history.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers silent wake-up messages so alerts and widgets can refresh. The server that sends them has no database and sends the same fixed message to every subscribed device. It never sees a glucose value, an account or a device.
  • Google Analytics for Firebase counts how the app is used, such as which onboarding step, tour stop or add-menu item was opened. It never receives glucose values, insulin or food amounts, or health answers. Your answer to “Where did you hear about Glucoscope?” is sent to Analytics and RevenueCat, and the Firebase app instance ID is shared with RevenueCat so a purchase can be tied to the same install. There is currently no in-app switch to turn analytics off.

Deleting your data

Settings → Delete All Data removes readings, logbook entries, saved chats and the iCloud copy. Data you saved to Apple Health stays there until you remove it in the Health app. Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device.

Not a medical device

Glucoscope is a personal log. Don't use it to make treatment decisions. Follow your care team's advice and confirm readings with your meter or a finger-stick test.
